Where did it all begin ?
It wasn’t even a hobby, i wasn’t even interested in taking photos until one day it all changed. When our first daughter arrived we wanted make sure we captured those golden moments. I purchased a cheap compact camera, snapped away and took some photos. The photos were ok, but i soon realised that i wanted better. I started looking into cameras and it wasn’t long before i’d purchased a Nikon bridge camera, and it wasn’t long before the pictures started to improve a little. I borrowed a friends DSLR and was blown away by two things, the quality, and the complexity! It was from this point that my photographic journey really started in earnest for me.
Working and living in Lincoln meant that i had the freedom to explore and soon started taking photos in and around the city. I never thought the images were that good, and have always been my own biggest critic, but shared them nevertheless on local social media platforms. I spent endless hours watching tutorials, researching equipment and editing techniques and its these foundations that have taken me to where i am now. I am completely self-taught. One things for sure though, i’ll never be naive enough to not listen, because photography opens up endless opportunities and the advice of good people can be so valuable. I’ve developed my own style and found my own niche, but this doesn’t mean i’m confined to one type of photography; the opportunities are endless.
As a photographer it is always pleasing to see your work recognised by peers and such like. Over the last few years i’ve won a number of competitions, had images published in local and national papers, licenced images to local and national agencies and much more. If feel lucky, and in some part proud that the hours and weeks of effort and hard work can bring you those much sought after rewards. It just proves if you really want something, you’ll put the work in to get it.
I am now pleased that I can share my images and work for you all to enjoy. If there’s something you can’t see or find, or wish to commission me to undertake work please just drop me a message.
